Snack Recipe- Rice Krispie Pumpkins

This first Halloween post is a super cute one I just know you’re gonna love! These pumpkins made from Rice Krispies and marshmallows are the easiest and quickest thing to make, so you can make them on your own, with a partner or even with the little ones!

60g butter
1 Large Bag Of Marshmallows (around 200g)
700g Rice Krispies
Red and Yellow Food Colouring
Mini Rolo’s For The Stalk
3 Tbsp Oil (for your hands!)

In a large pot, melt your butter over a low heat (don’t let it burn!), then add in all your marshmallows and melt together until they’re completely combined with the butter.

Now, remove from the heat and add your red and yellow food colouring in SMALL amounts, I don’t think I got the colour perfect, it definitely could have been a deeper orange but just keep trying with little drops until you get the colour you like. When mixing the food colouring in, be careful not to stir too much as your mixture will start to break up and it’ll be harder to shape later on.

Now here comes the messy part (this is the bit the kids will enjoy!). Coat your hands THOROUGHLY in oil, it might feel gross but trust me…unless you want to be cleaning marshmallow and Rice Krispies from in-between your fingers until Christmas, I would use the oil! Now gently roll the Rice Krispie mixture into little balls until they resemble teeny pumpkins, before they start to harden add your stalk on top too! If they do harden just use the end of a wooden spoon to make a little dent for the stalk.

And that is it!
Told you it was simple, didn’t I? Keep them in air-tight containers if you can but it's better to just eat them within 24 hours as they do harden into little rocks very quickly and they aren’t too appetising to eat after that.
These are definitely something I’ll be making next year too, they’re just so easy and they always come out looking really cute, they might even make a perfect gift for next-door neighbours or as party favours!

Happy Halloween!
