Regardless of whether you eat meat or not, the humble sausage roll is (pretty much) everyone’s favourite snack; it’s perfect as the staple of a Christmas buffet table, it’s just the right amount of satisfying when you grab one on the way to work at any time of day and with this recipe from The Veg Space blog you’re gonna have as many sausage rolls as you want! Did I mention this only takes about 30 minutes to put together??
I’ve been scouting around for a while now looking for the perfect vegan sausage roll recipe that was both delicious and simple, so why did it not occur to me before to just stick some vegan sausages in ready-roll puff pastry?! Well, I’ve done just that and made a little recipe video for you to enjoy but let's get practising now so we can surprise all our meat-eating friends and family at Halloween/Christmas when these vegan delights turn up on the buffet table!
Makes 6 sausage rolls
6 Vegan Sausages
320g Ready-Rolled Puff Pastry
1 tbsp Sesame Seeds (optional)
2 tbsp Dairy-Free Milk (I used vegan butter and it had the same effect)
Plain Flour, for dusting
I couldn’t believe how easy this was! I always expected to spend over an hour making some sort of homemade vegan sausage mix and pastry (which you could do if you’re feeling up to it), prepping the rolls, chilling them and then baking them but this recipe made it all so simple! I always use Richmond’s meat-free sausages (they haven’t asked me to say this I just wanted to show you a great example of a vegan sausage) in recipes that call for sausage as they’re so similar to the meat ones and they have a great flavour and texture! These will be perfect with lashings of tomato ketchup for a snack or with lunch, I’m so happy I found this recipe and I know I’ll be using it all the time when we can have people over again! If you’re looking for a simple, tasty vegan snack that might even surprise your carnivorous friends with how delicious “weird vegan food” can be, then look no further than these homemade sausage rolls!
